Tonči

Tonči Gulišija was born in Split, in 1974. His search for the purpose of life began at a young age. After much research, he found the answers to his inner aspirations in yoga books.
During that period, he was very involved in sports, mostly tennis, basketball and athletics.
He began the practical part of Yoga in 1995. For the first three years, he practiced yoga asanas, pranayama – breathing techniques, from various books and meditation with the mantra Om Namah Shivaya.
In 1998, he received his first official diksha – initiation, in the mantra of Transcendental Meditation, with which he meditated for a year.
In 1999, he met his first Teacher with whom he spent 12 years. Then he became a Yoga teacher and for the next 9 years taught Hatha yoga, pranayama and meditation while simultaneously graduating from the Faculty of Maritime Studies and earning a B.Sc. in Maritime Management.
In 2006, he began practicing Ashtanga yoga and Ashtanga pranayama from the tradition of Sri K. Patabhi Jois. He practiced these two practices for 12 years, and taught them for 10 years within his Ashtanga yoga school in Split and through many workshops and retreats that he led in Croatia and India.
In 2012, he left his long-standing professional job and devoted himself fully to his personal practice and teaching of Yoga.
Of all his Teachers, a special place belongs to Rolf Naujokat, a senior Ashtanga yoga Teacher, who lived in Goa, India. He went to him for 10 years.

The second Teacher is Shivabalananda, a direct disciple of Shivabalajogi. In 2010, he initiated him into third eye meditation, on which he meditated for 8 years.

The most important spiritual Teacher on his path is Babaji Bhola Das from the ancient Naga Sadhu tradition, whom he met in 2017 in India. Babaji first initiated him into meditation with Shiva mantras and rituals, and a few years later into Shakti Tantra-the Mahavidya system. As Babaji’s direct disciple, he received countless energy transmissions and was empowered to, together with his partner Ana, transmit Shiva Shakti Tantra to others.

In 2019, he published his first book, The Fire of Freedom, in which he expressed his experiences of walking the spiritual path in the form of poems.
In 2020, he developed his own system of practicing yoga asanas – Mukti yoga, and shortly after, a system of breathing techniques – Mukti pranayama.
For the past 9 years, he lived more secluded, more dedicated to personal mantra japa meditation and pujas (purashcharana- tapasya way), while teaching less.
He has been to India 20 times so far, studying and practicing Yoga and meditation. He spent 2.5 years there, 7 months of which were with Babaji.
